U.S. Veteran

WINGLEWICH, Eugene “Gene”, age 90, of Germantown, OH, passed away Friday, May 4, 2012, at home surrounded by his loving family. Gene was born in Franklin, OH, on February 10, 1922 to the late “Floren” Albert and Nellie Mae (Lesher) Winglewich. He was a graduate of Germantown High School ~ Class of 1940; and a U. S. Navy Pilot during W.W.II. Gene retired from Armco Steel in 1984, with more than 43 years of service as a pilot. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church; the Quiet Birdmen ~ “QB’s”; the Silver Wings and the Retired Officers Association. . In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Louella “Lou” Winglewich; 2 brothers, Virgil and Raymond Winglewich. He is survived by his devoted niece and nephew, Linda Hager of New Lebanon and Paul (Amee Sherman) Winglewich of Minster, OH; great niece, Michelle (Josh) McGuire of Franklin and their children, Elijah & Abby; a great nephew, Randy Perry, Jr. of West Carrollton and his children, Tyler, Izaiah & Alaine; a great-niece and nephew, Megan & Allen Showalter; a cousin, Lois Winglewich Steele of Middletown and other cousins, Wilma, Debbie & Patty; special care givers , Steve Wilson and ~ “his girls”, Judy, Joei, Karen & Angie. Family and friends may call 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 8th, at the Dalton Funeral Home, Corner of State Route 4 & Weaver Rd., Germantown. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 6939 Weaver Rd., Germantown. Burial will be at Germantown Union Cemetery. If desired memorial contributions may be made to Germantown Veteran’s Museum or Hospice of Dayton.
